Charlietown to host ECMAs '11

The 2011 East Coast Music Awards and the associated festival and conference will be held in Charlottetown next year, March 24-27. The Awards travel in a rotating circuit thorugh each of the provinces that are part of the annual celebration and 96 hour kitchen party. (PEI, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland/Labrador)
PEI Music Week is currently going on in Charlottetown, with dozens of showcases tonight (January 22) and the Gala Wards show tomorrow night, featuring a ton of Island talent like Rose Cousins, TIm Chiasson and the Grasstown Hobos. Tomorrow evening's show is a the Confederation Centre while next year's ECMAs will be held at the Charlottetwon Civic Centre (as well as bars and clubs around town.)
This year's ECMA is going on in Sydney NS March 4 - 7. The Awards show itself will feature performances by Classified, Joel Plaskett, JP Cormier, The Stanfields, Pascal Lejeune, Rose Cousins, Old Man Luedecke, Grass Mountain Hobos, Chrissy Crowley, Sons of Membertou, Colin Grant and Fiona MacGillivray. Full showcase and festival gigs will be posted here on INDIEpipE as they become available.
If you have never been to an ECMA, go. It is a non-stop musical party with an incredible joie de vivre and sense of camaraderie. Everyone celebrates whoever wins the awards, and most of the time they're having too much fun singing and playing together to notice.
